Firefox 3 browser is released
Firefox is now my default browser at home and at office. I really like its functionalities and ease of customization. Firefox 2 is the best browser out there at my opinion and while it may lose out to Opera in terms of speed, its cool features and superb browsing performance more than make up for the slower speed. The good news is, the Mozilla development team has now released the next major upgrade of the browser, Firefox 3, which is now available for download. This upgrade of the open source browser has “more than 15,000 improvements”, and is “faster, safer and smarter than ever before”.
According to the report at ars technica, there are more than one million downloads of the new version in less than four hours. This could be due to the success of the promotional campaign of Download Day which has achieved more than one million download pledges for Firefox 3. I am sure this is on the way to be a Guinness record for the most number of downloads for a software.
The main improvements of Firefox 3:
- Speedy performance
- Thrifty memory usage
- Intelligent address bar
- Download manager with resume ability
- Better password manager
- Enhanced bookmark manager with tagging feature
- Better Add-on manager with security check
- Full zoom in feature
- Better aesthetics
- More security enhancements, like site legitimacy identification, anti-malware, parental control and etc….

With its user experience enhancement and browsing security, Firefox 3 will once again redefine the standards of web browsers.
