Google PR updates
The highly anticipated Google PR update happened sometime around 27th October. From the feedback I have read at the SEO forums, some are joyous while some are not so, especially for those who are heavily into link buying/selling.
Many sites and blogs which are into that are penalised with a drop in PR, some of them are big authority sites. I think Google has developed a algorithm that can tackle this issue which is deemed by them as illegal. However, I’m not sure if this drop in PR affects their rankings at SERP or not.
A personal advice is to ignore the PR number totally and concentrate on doing what is the best, adding great relevant content to your sites and doing right honest linkings. In this way, you’ll have no worries about the changes in the pagerank. If you site has low pagerank, you still can rank high by Google, even if your site has PR0.
I understand if your site has a high PR number, it adds that extra prestige and potentially you may attract more advertisers who may still choose sites with high PR for their advertising drive.
On the whole, most of my blogs have seen a gain of PR by 1 or 2 and there is no drop at all. So far so good to me then.
I welcome your views on this.
