Liberty Reserve is good, but it is too ladden with security inconveniences

liberty reserveLiberty Reserve is way too safe and secure! Why do I say that? You know, when there is too many layers of security, it creates more inconvenience as a result. It is exactly the case with my experience with Liberty Reserve.

As I was lazy to plug in my old notebook harddisk which contained my old Liberty Reserve password (I just changed to a new harddisk), I erroneously entered my password hence I did an online password change after passing 4 security questions. A new random password was generated using Roboform. So I returned to the login page, but to my horror I discovered that “my account was blocked“! WTF?! What did I do wrong this time?

Checking through Liberty Reserve’s FAQ reveals nothing about the account block issue and I thought sending them an email would be too troublesome as I did not have good impression of any online email support, anywhere.

I checked my email inbox and there was a new email informing me of password change. I just opened it up and I saw this message, and it dampened my mood a lot. So there goes another day wasted to replenish my Executive Ads account!

Dear XXX,

Your password has been successfully updated. Please note that your account will be blocked for 24 hours. Please contact us immediately if you have not authorized this change. 24 hour block is meant to give you enough time to notice and react in case your account was compromised.

For information and support please e-mail us at xxxxxxx@libertyreserve.com

Thank you.

Yeah, so I got it. But is 24 hour time frame way too much? Why it can’t be 12 hours? Basically I can’t have access to my funds for another 24 hours! And its just because I keyed in a wrong password!

Anyway, I wrote an email to them to reconsider to change to 12 hours for such cases.

Hope for something positive?!
