Open source software
There are lots of free software out there which are proving to be able substitutes for the equivalent commercial versions, even mammoth software packages released by giant software companies like Microsoft. Thanks to the open-source community who firmly believe in creating software and release them free of charge.
For example, I’m using Open Office and it works perfectly with the prevalent Microsoft Office files. It is a free download and you can install that after a download from your fast broadband. Of course, Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client are some of the hottest downloads nowadays and I highly recommend surfers to use them as I don’t really like Internet Explorer.
If you find the Adobe Photoshop is simply way too expensive, no worries, there’s a highly capable graphics software called GIMP that can perform most of the tasks found in Photoshop. You just need some time to get used to it.
Looking for a good password manager software like Roboform but without paying a penny, there’s KeePass. And Nvu is a clever replacement for website design heavyweight like Dreamweaver.
In fact, there are so many out there, just do a search and you will be surprised you don’t have to pay a single cent and you can get great performance software legally. Thanks to the open source community!
