Why there is slow internet access today

Internet is very slow at this part of the world today where I am based, Southeast Asia. The webpages load as if they were carrying some tons of data and in many instances, the process stops half way. I thought my computer was affected by some powerful trojans or malware.

Well, I did manage to gain access to some news articles which have reported that this sluggishness is not a localised issue in which the local ISP’s systems are at faults but due to the major earthquake in central-south Taiwan and that caused some damages to the underwater submarine cables. I am very sorry to hear Taiwan is hit by earthquakes as it is a country I like a lot. Well, it looks as if 26th December is inauspicious because natural disasters always seem to occur on this day.

How Minor SEO Adjustments Can Double Search Traffic

Much has been written about the importance of the title element for search engine visibility. But I’m going to revisit the topic, because there’s one point I don’t feel has been given sufficient coverage. That point is the value of keyword-rich titles on older websites. More specifically, I’ll talk about aligning your title elements with your key search phrases for maximum visibility. But first, let’s start with a definition of a title element, just so we’re on the same page.

What is a Title Element?
Search engines give a lot of consideration to HTML title elements. The title element is within the HTML code that makes up each of your web pages. To see the title element, just right-click on any web page and select “View Source.” This will show you the HTML code that makes up the web page. The title element will be near the top, between two tags labeled as “title.”

SEO: Using Your Website Statistics To Help Choose The Right Keywords

There are literally thousands of tools that are available on the market to help you choose keywords to optimize your WebPages, but one of the most underutilized tools that you should be using is your web logs. Your web log is the key to telling you who and how people are finding your website. It will also tell you if there are new trends in which people are actually finding your website by keywords or phrases that you may not necessarily have optimized for.

All internet marketing and search engine experts will tell you that if you are not in the top 5 records of any search engine results then you are simply not going to get any traffic. This has a certain element of truth to it but is not totally correct. In fact we have had a couple of WebPages recently that were not optimized for any specific keywords or phrases, but these pages have been pulling 50 hits a day, leading to sales even though it was on the 95th page of the search engine results.

Spyware, Antivirus Software Alone Isn’t Enough

When people buy a home computer or when companies get set up for their online presence for advertising or e-commerce, most people’s IT shopping list is extensive and includes things such as hardware and software such as an operating system, a word processor and internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape or Mozilla’s FireFox. Most people realize that they need to protect or shield themselves against potential computer viruses, which can be debilitating. What many fail to do, though, is protect themselves from Spyware.

Spyware is created to spy on you. Spyware is also known as Adware. Adware fills your screen with advertisements. There are also malicious types of Spyware that report your computer activities to a third party. This problem is running rampant throughout the intricate web that is the Internet.

SEO - How Bad Links Can Risk Your Rankings

Having too many bad links on your site can not only lower your site’s importance in the page rankings of search engines it can also encourage some search engines like Lycos, Yahoo and Google to permanently remove your site from their search engine ranking pages.

Normally the more links you have on your web page, the more Google and other search engines will love you and try to boost your search engine rankings. Part of most search engine algorithms has been to raise the ranking of a site that has a great deal of link popularity. This is why it is always essential to monitor the people who are linking to you. If their links are broken they will be damaging your site. Google, the grand master of this ranking methodology, often penalizes sites that provide links to links that serve no purpose or that is broken. This leads to a potentially very dangerous situation because you have no real control over what sites choose to link to yours unless your website is a blog in which case you can banish links from being attached to your site. The drag is that the more popular your site is the more links you are going to have and the more time you are going to be spending checking to make sure that the links are operative.

How to effectively guard against malware

Being much involved in the internet marketing business myself, I know the chances of being infected with some of the malware are rather high. This is especially so for someone who gets complacent because such mishaps have never happened before, thinking such stuff will never happen because I have the latest anti-virus software. Remember, a single moment of carelessness is enough to haunt you for a long time, and very often, just having anti-virus software is not enough to protect you.

Nowadays, site admins or webmasters can easily program some codes into their websites and when you visit these websites, your computer may be infected unknowingly with malware. Or someone sends spams to your POP mail box and you download those spams to your computer and unknowingly launch some programs that come with it. These are usually spyware, trojans or keyloggers. Also you don’t want your computer to be part of the zombie network that launches DDOS attacks on other websites. This problem is more acute if you are heavily involved in autosurfs, HYIPs or traffic exchanges because you need to surf or click many stranger sites everyday in your routine. Also HYIP arena is a place full of sleazy thieves who are very capable of stealing money right under your noses. Everyday there are reports of people being stolen of E-Golds and such thing happened to me before too. It’s scary, isn’t it? So how to prevent such things from happening?

Google disallows pictures beside Adsense

Just received this news from forum that Google Adsense has disallowed the practice of placing images directly beside Adsense ads in order to draw attention from the site visitors to these ads because such associations may mislead the visitors to think that the image content may co-relate to the ads themselves and thus giving presenting “not a good experience for users or advertizers”.

Publishers can still place ads on pages with images but they must be placed in a way such that it will not mislead or confuse the visitors.
