BlogCatalog drives traffic to your blog
The rise of web 2.0 has culminated with the golden age of blogging. Blogging has certainly provided a lot of impetus to create services that enhances blogging experience. Services like bookmarking widgets, blog directories, blog exchangers, pinging, plugings and many more. More new ideas are being nurtured and soon you could see anymore power service to enhance your blogging, at anytime.
Today I wish to write about this blogging tool, or a blog socializer, if there’s an official name for that, called BlogCatalog. This is one of the most popular sites associated with bloggers and if have not heard of it, let me write something about it, and how you can use it to boost your blog traffic and gain more blogging fame.
Visit BlogCatalog and you’ll realize that this is a huge website of PR7. Once you are there, you find that it is basically a blog congregator, as its name suggests. Simply register for your free account, and as usual, enter your tags that describe your blog’s niche and then submit it for approval which can take up to 24 hours.
Meanwhile, you can browse other blogs, or insert your best photos. The next day, you find that your blog should most probably be approved. So that’s when the real action starts. Start by being the most charming “social animal” and initiated to make friends with other bloggers. I would suggest finding those bloggers who are in the same niche as you for a start as this will instantly help yo to create a “network” or community of like-minded bloggers who you may be able to tap on in the future, if your blog expands and need to create blogging ventures.
I heard there is no limit to the number of friends you can make here at BlogCatalog, so imagine if you initiated 100 contacts and assume half of these are active in BlogCatalog, you could gain 50 extra unique hits because they could be keen to check out their “new friend”.
Of course you can venture out and join other niches or community. Another good feature is you can create new Groups and in this case, you shall be the admin of the group. It’s like being a leader of a pack.
In short, I think register and interact at BlogCatalog is a must if you serious into blogging. Blogging experts are also espousing about it, mind you. I agree the traffic from there could be rather haphazard, but if your blog is nciely done up yet short of visitors, I can guarantee your blog will be buzzed by the sudden traffic activity. The rule is just to add as many friends as you can and continue to work on your blog with content.
