Snapper firefox plugin

no spam internet snapperAs a blogger, very often I’d need to capture some screens or websites to display them on my blog. What i do now is to PRINT SCREEN it, paste it to the Paint program and convert it to a jpeg. Next I’ll use the GIMP graphics editing software to crop or edit it to the desired picture size. The whole process is rather troublesome and I’m sure there is a better way to make it more streamlined.

That’s why this firefox plugin called Snapper is such an useful addition to me. Snapper is a type of fish by the way! So when you install this firefox plugin, a little red fish icon will appear at the lower status bar. When you want to capture anything within the firefox browser window, click on the fish icon and its “mouth” will open. Next click on the left mouse button to drag the rectangle to the desired screen size you want to capture, then release the left mouse button. A window will appear now asking you where you want to save the file. It’s as simple as that. Please note that the file format is in PNG which is a common web graphics format.

A suggestion though to the developers of this wonderful Snapper firefox plugin, that is, make the capture rectangle measurable in terms of vertical and horizontal lengths by using running pixel numbers as indication. This means i can easily capture a 200px by 100px screen that I want on the spot easily without re-sizing with a graphics editor.

Another thing that I discover with Snapper firefox plugin is that it makes another Firefox plugin called “AutoCopy” inoperable. So that means AutoCopy is not working when Snapper is “active”. So at the moment, I’ll have to disable Snapper if I’m not using it. As there are thousands of firefox plugins, maybe this is the kind of things that’s unavoidable?
