reCAPTCHA To Stop Comment Spam
I receive at least 2 to 3 comments spams from furtive IP addresses per day spamming me about porns, sex, illegal downloading sites, sex-enhancing drugs, debt reconsolidations and others! It’s really annoying to the extent I know I have to do something about it. And that’s the beauty of wordpress blog. Simply do a search and you get a great plugin to combat this comment spam issue.
Go to this site, http://recaptcha.net/, do a simple registration, enter your blog name and the site will generate a public key and a private key privy to your blog. Now go to the “Resources” page and click on “Wordpress” to download the zip file.
Simply unzip the files and upload the 2 .php files to your FTP host under the plugins folders.
Next login to your wordpress admin and go to “Plugins” page to activate Captcha and then enter the 2 keys generated earlier. Once you have entered the keys, the installation is complete.
Now do a test by entering a test comment. Once you click on the Submit button, you’ll notice that there is a Captcha prompt for you to enter the digitized text.
Say bye to comment spams!
