Wordpress upgraded!
Right, I’m very pleased to drop a post there to tell you friends who chance by my blog that I have successfully upgraded my Wordpress to version 2.3.2. Previously I was using 2.2.1. This is the first time I had done a Wordpress upgrade. I’m glad that I followed word by word through the official Wordpress upgrade guide, although it certainly looks very intimidating with a lot of technical words and jargons. After going through the whole process, (I spent about two hours to complete the whole process) my advice is that just print out the page and follow it closely and you should be fine. It’s really not that tough. It is highly advisable that you do a database backup first.
For those who wish to know the changes in this version, please check out this announcement page.
The reason why I wish to upgrade is because of a sudden technical hitch that made image uploading impossible. There is always a string that says “Warning: getimagesize(): Read error! in [somewhere]” or this “The uploaded file was only partially uploaded”. After spending some time trying to fix it, I thought I might as well do an upgrade to cure all. Glad that it went through blissfully.
Lastly, for those who wants to have a quick “wizard-like” upgrade process like Windows software, you can install this excellent plugin called “Wordpress Automatic Upgrade“.
Now there is no excuse why not to upgrade.
