Upgrading to wordpress version 2.6

Wordpress 2.6 UpgradeUsing the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin set me into a panic this morning. I was using this plugin to upgrade my wordpress to version 2.6 and everything went smooth as silk with no errors. Then it came to the stage where the installation wanted me to login, just after upgrading to latest database, to reactivate all the plugins. I found that the password I used to login was giving me errors. Panic stricken! Tried the “Lost Password” function to reconfirm my password yet realised it took ages to arrive, and it didn’t arrive. Decided to clear all cache and cookies. Worked like a charm and I was able to login, but alas, there was a few rows of warning messages at the top. It looked ugly! But it was version 2.6?!

I opened up the blog, and “OH NO”, the formatting was out of place!

What shall I do?

I decided to delete the current installation to do a manual process.

After 30 minutes of deleting and uploading, I managed to login yet the warning messages were still there and the blog became very sluggish.

Some cool heads were needed at this time.

I realize this Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin and the Robot Meta plugin were giving the errors. So I went to the FTP manager to delete those two from the /wp-content folder.

Worked like a Charm, Part 2.

Decided to discard the WP automatic upgrade plugin. But Robot Meta was too good to let go. Went to the main site to download the latest version, and everything was okay!

Total time spent to upgrade and fix errors: 2 hours and 15 minutes.
